Many people have criticised our chairman since he declared that any residents in the areas we lord over who dare to vote against our party are unfit to live among us and must therefore leave. The order is clear, and whether people like it or not, they must obey or be ready to face what comes next.
Our chairman is a gentleman; he did not threaten anybody, as some local and international groups have claimed. His order was just a way to put things in order. We cannot have enemies of progress lurking in our territory. It cannot work. If you are against the order by our chairman, I have a question for you: as a husband, if your wife will not do your bidding, will you keep her under your roof? If your children disobey your command, will you buy them ice cream or koboko and teach them some lessons?
These questions are simple, but you find them difficult to answer because you are not honest. I will help. As for your wife, send her to her father’s place. As for your children, buy that koboko and spank them! You will not be the first to do either or both. My chairman, also, is not the first to give such an order for the progress of our democracy. This is the act of a patriot and should be applauded.
Come to think of it, our chairman belongs to the party of the oga patapata of the country. So, what are we talking! There is nothing wrong if our chairman sanctions any resident who still wants to work against us after enjoying the infrastructural benefits, empowerment programmes and political goodwill of our leaders.
Some critics say our chairman’s order is anti-democratic and violates people’s civil rights, including the right to vote. That is not true. Sabotaging progress is what is anti-democratic. The right to vote only exists when it is the right party getting the votes. Voting for the wrong party is wrong, and therefore not allowed.
If we want to get political and a bit philosophical, citizens are rational beings, but sometimes not rational voters. As citizens, we must give them the right to vote; as voters, we must guide them to making the right choices. We cannot allow free choice that will endanger us all. You will agree that we need continuity in this government, and voting against our party will disrupt continuity, dragging democracy down if left unchecked.
One international group even said our chairman is a danger to society. How could that be when he is only enforcing stability? The same group also said our chairman should be held accountable for threatening violence against those who may vote against our party. Threatening violence? What threat! This meddlesome, interloper group, what does it know about the dividends of democracy our party, which is now under threat, has brought to our towns and villages, our country! What violence did our chairman unleash? Words were only uttered, and nobody was harmed. How is that violence? Again, it is either you are with us or against us! And if you are against us, we have no reason to protect you. There is no reason for you to benefit from our housing schemes, our job opportunities, our road networks. No reason to have you around. The country is wide enough to accommodate any citizen who is not welcome in our Federal Territory.
Some social media commentators also raised some unserious concerns. One asked how we will identify those working against our party on election day. We own the city; we own the electoral body. We will supervise the ballot, and anyone whose thumb does not land on our party flag will be flagged for eviction. We have our strategy in place, so we will not just indiscriminately eject our people. We also have agents, both party members and officials in the electoral body, working behind the scenes. Besides, this is not the first time our party vigilantes have deployed such a strategy across the country. So, you do not have to worry about being a victim as long as you are loyal to our party—as we are to our leaders.
It is also the wish of some critics and opposition parties that our chairman be arrested. For what? If our chairman is arrested for just planning to evict tenants who do not want to pay their dues, what will now become of one of our ambitious agents in the Southwest who threatened to abduct any citizen against our party? Though our leaders may not empower him to do such, he is still within his responsibilities as a loyal servant. Wish all you want; nothing will happen to us. We are just loyal servants working for the benefits of our people.
Furthermore, our chairman made the pronouncement before a coalition of youth, the future of our country. There was no protest, just applause. This signals that our chairman was right—and will always be right. Young people understand loyalty. They know that you can buy loyalty with election palliatives. They know that loyalty will take them higher on the political ladder. They understand how the world works and the importance of following orders.
Democracy thrives on loyalty to the party agenda. We cannot progress as a country if institutional efforts to ensure progress and development are sabotaged by some voters’ decision to disrupt continuity in governance. We cannot allow that for the sake of us all. This is the only country we have; our country. Therefore, we must protect it in any way we know how.
To reiterate our chairman’s order, anyone who votes against our party is not welcome in our Federal Territory. This is necessary for our democracy. Thank you for your time.
