We’re excited to invite the general public to join us as we celebrate the World Satire Day this year.
To commemorate the day, Punocracy is bringing together three distinguished writers and satirists to share their thoughts on The Relevance of Satire in Today’s World in a webinar scheduled to be held on the ninth of November.
We had declared this 11/9 World Satire Day last year at the award ceremony for the maiden Prize for Satire writing competition. This was in recognition of the need to celebrate this under-appreciated but essential genre of literature that dates back thousands of years. Read more about why November 9 here.
At the webinar, we will be exploring such issues as misinformation, freedom of expression, satirical literacy, protest writing, and political consciousness, all from the perspective of satire-writing.
The panelists are Andrew Unger, author of Once Removed and founder of famous satirical website, The Daily Bonnet; David Hundeyin, journalist and founding writer for The Other News with Okey Bakassi; and Victor Daniel, lawyer and features writer at Nigeria Abroad.
Date: November 9, 2020.
Time: 2 to 3:30 pm (GMT+1).
Venue: Zoom.
